Silvercrest Baptist Church recently celebrated its 75^th year in service to the Waterford community.  Starting out as a vision of Dr. Savage and the great First Baptist Church of Pontiac as a Sunday School outreach, Silvercrest soon became an indigenous Baptist church with the proud history of having Dr. Tom Malone as one of its first pastors.  Through the years God has blessed Silvercrest, and Waterford, with godly men that have faithfully served as its pastor.

Today our Under Shepherd is Pastor Jerry Boritzki, a 1981 graduate of Midwestern Baptist College, located here in Pontiac Michigan.  Pastor Boritzki served as pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Marrero, LA for 8 years, as a missionary to the U.S. Military stationed in Sicily, Italy for 10 years at Calvary Baptist Church, and came to us as Pastor in July of 2006.  Having served for 20 years active duty with the U.S. Navy, being blessed with a wonderful marriage of 38 years and six grown children, our pastor has the experience to open God’s Word and bring a practical, applicable, and straight to the point, hard hitting sermon each time he preaches.

Our church believes in the Great Commission as given by our Savior and because of this we operate a bus ministry into the inner city of Pontiac as well as to our neighbors near by.

It would be important to understand that Silvercrest recognizes the Biblical need to stick with the old paths of the church.  We continue to use only the King James Bible, sing the older songs of the faith, and still believe that when we are told to come out from among the world and be separate, that God still means just what He wrote.  God’s standards of separation do not change with time.

We love our God, our country, and our community.  Holding to the truth that strong families make strong churches, which in turn make for a strong country, much time is invested it teaching on the family, marriage and child rearing.
